Expressions of Interest (Ref No MAP 09/04/S)

The Government of the Republic of Rwanda has received a grant from the International Development Association toward the cost of the Multi-Sectoral HIV/AIDS Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultant services. One of the areas of expertise that has been identified and approved, include the provision of advisory services to the National Referral Laboratory (NRL) in Kigali on Infection Control.
Responsibilities of the consultant include -inter alia-:
- Advise the Director of the National Referral Lab and other stakeholders on the prevention of spread of infectious diseases;
- Work with all national infectious disease programs to strengthen their programs;
- Develop, provide and supervise training at the NRL, other departments of the Ministry of Health,
- Research MDR-TB and other infectious disease issues in Rwanda;
- Analyze laboratory samples in collaboration with NRL staff;
- Ensure implementation of infections disease control procedures
- Develop research proposals and publish findings of research;
- Collaborate with both national and international scientists;
The position is for 1 year and scheduled to commence March 2005.

The Executive Secretariat of National Aids Control Commission in Rwanda (La Commission Nationale de Lutte contre le SIDA – CNLS) now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, CV, etc.).

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (current edition).
